The mission of the Vigo County Historical Society is to collect,
preserve, and present to the public the evolving history and
culture of the local Wabash Valley, and maintain the Museum
in a professional, educational and entertaining manner.

Welcome to the Vigo County Historical Society and Museum!

Housed in an 1868 Italianate mansion, the museum contains 18 rooms of historical treasures capturing the heritage of Vigo County. From the subterranean vault (home of Stiffy Green) to the third floor, intriguing exhibits abound!

Our colorful local history comes to life in displays containing items from the 1800s to the present.  Journey backward in time as you explore the Toy Shop, the Coca Cola Corridor, Military Room, One Room School House, Pharmacy, Victorian Parlor and much more!

We will be adding pages in the near future.

The museum is located at 1411 South Sixth Street in Terre Haute, Indiana. We are open from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Tuesday through Sunday, closed on Mondays.
